Alone
Joy itself longs for tomorrow
For today, I feel dead
Loneliness covers my every moment
As glist’ning snow o’re an open field
The ink within my pen
Cannot express the darkness hovering my soul
It is deep, mysterious, foreboding
As blackbirds guarding
A decrepit abode

I had a blast writing this poem. See, it was one of those days in class where I was just... excited about life!
(I know, that sounds like a direct contradictory to the poem itself... I'm getting there.) Our teacher had us pick two words each out of a list of words, and we were supposed to write a poem using all of the words, which were: Loneliness, Joy, Tomorrow, Ink, Blackbird, and... I honestly don't remember what the other one is. It's one of the other words in my poem…
So anyway, I looked at the words on the board, and began dramatically reeling off lines. I ended up saying a close variation to this poem. So, I went on ahead and jotted the poem down, and now I have... this insanely depressing poem! Hoorah!
Poem sketches are fun to do, and they're insanely easy. All you have to do is pick a few words, and try to make a poem out of them! You don't always end up using all the words, but the point is to simply avoid writer's block, and to give you a neat opportunity to write a new poem that you probably would never have thought to write before.
