Finally Beautiful

Finally Beautiful
-Melissa Lynne Moody

The sun gleams radiantly
The world seems so alive
The air itself feels welcoming
On this day, I feel beautiful

The world seems so alive
As the birds sing their melodies
On this day, I feel beautiful
The darkness has left my soul

As the birds sing their melodies
My heart dances along
The darkness has left my soul
For the first time since that day

My heart dances along
To the beat of butterflies' wings
For the first time since that day
I feel beautiful

The most wonderful days are sometimes right after the worst. The sky always seems so bright after a dark cloud has moved on... And those first moments, when you're almost expecting the word to seem as dark as it once did... those moments are absolutely amazing.

Feeling beautiful has always been an interesting concept. For me at least, it usually comes when I feel peaceful, or really, when a moment itself is beautiful. It creeps in when I least expect it, until suddenly, I realize I feel... at peace with everything, including myself. Beauty is a quiet creature. Soft, yet profound if you're paying enough attention to see it...

When beauty meets that moment of brightness after a hard trial... That is just... perfect...

Because finally...
You feel free.

This poem is called a Pantom. It's made up of an indefinite number of stanzas. Each stanza is four lines long, and the 1st and 3rd lines are the 2nd and 4th lines of the preceding stanza; so the pattern is:
1
2
3
4

2
5
4
6

5
7
6
8

It was a surprisingly easy poem to write! I actually really enjoyed this format.
