A Death-Bed
James Aldrich
Her suffering ended with the day,
Yet lived she at its close,
And breathed the long, long night away,
In statue-like repose.
But when the sun in all his state
Illumed the eastern skies,
She passed through Glory's morning gate
And walked in Paradise .
It amazes me that in death, we're given the life we were too broken to have while we were here on this earth.
Especially for people who may have trouble walking, or those whose hearing has faded or their eyesight was never there to begin with... Death for a Christian is really a new beginning… the beginning of a fairytale reality.
Hearing and eyesight is returned and, I imagine, even better than it was in the first place! We will never be hindered with bodily troubles. We will be surrounded by perfection, and we ourselves will be complete. In the Presence of our Lord... nothing will be lacking...
I can't wait.

The feel of this poem is really unique. The rhyme scheme was easy, and the deep words required several reads for me to get the full meaning of everything… I loved the place I was taken once I fully grasped the meaning of everything encompassed in these short stanzas.
